Most kids martial-arts gyms have neither. Many have one. HYR has both — an active top-tier competitor and a dedicated youth coach who's already produced national-level athletes. Both brown belts under Sean Stoopman, working with the same kids on the same mats.
Coach Cam is currently ranked #17 in the world by FloGrappling and 3rd overall male on the ADCC 2025 circuit — actively competing at the highest level of submission grappling in the world while coaching the kids program at HYR. The combination is rare: most coaches at his competitive level work with adult athletes, not kids. The kids in his class learn from someone who is, right now, doing the exact thing he's teaching.
Coach Lyndon is HYR's full-time youth-specialist — five years of full-time coaching, three of them working specifically with kids. His students have already competed at ADCC and MMA Youth Worlds. Behind every elite young athlete in the sport is a coach who knew how to build them from the ground up. Lyndon is that coach.
He's also a high-level grappler with years of experience in both wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He's won multiple IBJJF International Opens and placed second at American Nationals.
"Kids learn the game faster than adults. The job is to keep them honest, structured, and curious."
We're always looking for passionate martial artists who want to share their knowledge. If you have coaching experience and love helping people grow, reach out.
