Modern no-gi Jiu-Jitsu.
Built for kids and teens.

One program. Three classes a week. Coached by an active ADCC competitor and a dedicated youth-specialist. Ages 7–17, every experience level welcome.

What Kids Get

Three pillars, one program.

HYR runs one tightly-focused class — not a buffet of disciplines. Every session builds technique, fitness, and character at the same time.

Real technique

Modern, competition-tested no-gi BJJ. Leverage, control, escapes, submissions — the actual fundamentals adults train, taught at a kid-appropriate pace. No watered-down "kids version."

Athletic foundation

Strength, mobility, conditioning, and body awareness woven into every class. Jiu-Jitsu is the workout — your child gets stronger and more coordinated by showing up.

Quiet confidence

Discipline, focus, and respect aren't add-ons — they're how the room operates. Kids learn to handle themselves, hold a frame, and stay calm under pressure. Skills that translate everywhere.

A Week At HYR

Three classes, every week.

Tuesday and Thursday after school. Saturday morning. That's the rhythm — consistent enough to build skill, balanced enough for a kid's life.

Two coaches. Both on the floor.

Every class is taught by an active competitor or a dedicated youth-specialist — often both. No assistants running the room.

No Gear Required

What to wear. What to bring.

HYR is no-gi only — no expensive uniform to buy before your first class. Show up in normal athletic clothes and you’re ready.

  • Athletic shorts or leggings. No zippers, buttons, or pockets — they can catch and cause injury on the mats.
  • A t-shirt or rash guard. Snug-fitting works best so it doesn’t bunch up during drills.
  • A water bottle. Class moves — kids stay hydrated.
  • Bare feet. Shoes off at the mat edge. Trim nails in advance — it’s a sign of respect for training partners.
  • Hair tied back. Long hair gets pulled by accident during grappling. Hair tie or braid keeps things smooth.
  • That’s the whole list. No gi, no headgear, no mouthguard required for trial or regular class.
